FISHVIC REPORTER "KING GEORGE" IN SERIOUS ACCIDENT
Fishvic pro reporter Alan McFayden (AKA King George) is in a serious condition in the Intensive Care Unit at the Alfred Hospital after a BBQ gas explosion on Sunday (22 June).
The explosion happened around 7am at the Wonthaggi Angling Club rooms and Alan sustained external burns to 50% of his body and major internal burns to his airways.
He was airlifted to the Alfred where he remains in an induced coma (current as at 26 June).
From all the staff at fishvic, and all the readers who have enjoyed his comprehensive weekly Gippsland reports for many years (and his monthly reports in VFM magazine), we wish Alan the very best for a successful recovery and our thoughts are with him.

>UPDATE 17 SEPTEMBER
Alan is still in the burns unit at The Alfred Hospital where he will likely remain until at least Christmas at this stage.
We believe he will be having the bandages removed from his legs this week and that medical staff continue to be reasonably pleased with his progress.
Unfortunately his throat and airways were also severely burned and Alan has not been able to speak since the accident. He is conscious but heavily sedated most of the time.
We wish Alan a successful recovery and we will try and keep fishvic readers up-to-date with his progress.
