ALTONA ROCKS

Location: Altona rocks, Altona

Directions: Go down to the beach front at Altona and follow that along to the pier, then keep going and you will see a big pile of rocks. It looks shallow but it's a good spot.

Type of water: Bay.

Type of fishing: Rocks.

Target fish: Snapper, flathead and gummy sharks.

Best times: Low tide with a southerly wind.

Tackle: Any rig will do.

Baits: Pilchard, garfish, sand whiting, whitebait, pippi, squid.

Best spots: Right at the end of the rocks.

Long shot: Trevally, squid.

Parking: Just go down to the next street and park your car there.

Ramps: The boat ramps are just down the road.

Safety: (No info supplied.)

Amenities: Fish 'n' chips, ice cream store.

Kids: Yes.

Pets: No.

Last word: It's best to go there in summer on low tide.
