Location: Dean Reservoir, Dean (10 minutes from Ballarat).

Directions: From Ballarat head out on Victoria Street towards Melbourne and turn left at Water Street traffic lights. Follow Water Street all the wy out to where the reservoirs are and follow signs to get to Dean Reservoir.

Type of water: Lake.

Type of fishing: Shore.

Target fish: Brown trout, rainbow trout, redfin.

Best times:
Brown and rainbow trout - late afternoon early evening.
Redfin - anytime (best early evening).

Tackle & Baits: Fish mudeyes, scrub worms, garden worms or maggots under a bubble float and let drift. Best lures are Celtas or Tassies.

Best spots: Just next to the dam wall on the far side of the reservoir.

Long shot: Tench.

Parking: Car area. No cost, no time limit.

Ramps: No boating allowed.

Safety: Not allowed to fish off dam wall and no boating or wading.

Amenities: None.

Kids: Yes.

Pets: No.
