Location: Murray River/Lake Mulwala, Yarrawonga.
Directions: From Melbourne, straight up the Hume Highway, turn off at Benalla, head up the Yarrawonga road and you're there.
Type of water: Lake.
Type of fishing: Bank and Boat.
Target fish: Native fish - Murray cod/golden perch (yellowbelly).
Best times: In the warmer months (December to May) early in the morning to 10am and dusk till late at night.
Tackle/Baits: Trolling big lures, bait fishing with bardies and yabbies.
Best spots: Below the weir, Majors Creek, the Steam Train, Hogans Road or in the shallows.
Long shot: Redfin, eels, other perch.
Parking: Plenty of parking space available.
Ramps: All are great except for below the weir you need to have had some practice as it is a bit steep.
Safety: Watch out for logs, stick to the speed limit in the zones.
Amenities: Most places are well catered for, e.g. toilets, barbecue areas and plenty of tackle outlets, not to mention the accommodation places.
Kids: Yes.
Pets: Yes.
Last word: Have been going up there since I was 1 and it's a fantastic place, it's so peaceful, the town has everything, it's the best fishing spot of my life so far.
