Hi guys i am thinking of going for a kayak at midnight through patterson lakes tonight to get some bream. Do Bream take hardbodied lures at night?

i guess so
as long as you got the right golour and size, along with the right vibration
remember to try a few plastics as well, they normally pay off

Nah you will struggle. Some small poppers might go ok but you will be far better off with bait. Subsurface lures at night can catch fish but in my experience they are not too flash.

mate bream can be caught at night on various types of lures, but as benny said your best option would be surface lures that make noises. Even then, its gonna be bloody hard. Might be worth a shot though mate, especially casting right next to structure and under lights.

If you do get to lights, definitely try some soft plastics, the bream have great eyes and will see anything near a light

Ah i didn't think about all the lights there. If your up in the lakes under lights might be worth a crack. If you go id be very interested to know how you went

Patto Lakes at night by kayak?

Dark surface-1m lures fished tight into boats/pontoons with a little dazzle of light hitting the water.

Won't get many, but most of what you get should push the kg mark.

Bigger ones are best put back and left to fight another day

Dont worry guys any big fish will be put back. I will go and try my secret land based spot first and see if the Jews come out to play as high tide at 00:30 is perfect for the jews at my land based spot. If i have no luck i may go throw the kayak in

Fish around the 7kg mark lately? I think I know the spot you're talking about.

And it's good you do C&R. The more that do, means the more fun to be had next week and every week after

Yeah most are around seven kilo. Years ago i introduced the place to a ex member of a certain fishing show and it would seem the word has got aroung over time but it's still quiet enough there and a nice little spot.

Hi guys
had a top night. My land based location was firing so I did nit bother taking the kayak off the roofrack. Over a dozen bream average size and one Jew that was good enough to take my rig on my other bream rod with 4lb leader so unfortunately the leader broke while landing it. Made for an easy release though. May go back Wednesday night weather permitting. Regarding the pm I will contact u shortly if that's ok. Fish hard guys it's time for me to run now.
Regards
James
