Anyone tried this for the old King George? Thinking of giving it a go down at a nearby beach.

If so what's the best depth of water, fly, retreive and conditions?

Thanks,
KGW

if i braught my fly rod to sydeny i would if tried it the whiting were very aresive. i was so close to bringing it byt there was no room in the car left.

try a grey ghost it would immatate a little white bait and if the whiting are being very aggresive they will hit it

little surface flys like a tiny crease fly should also get some rises.

make sure you let us know how you go

you couyld try fish the shallows with a surface popper, you can tie them using packaging fome, walk the shallows casting into holes, near weed or shallow drop offs, worked for me at bemm river.

I've been trying to get my fly fishing buddies to come to St leonards cause the poor mans bone fish is in abundance! I would use in the bay anything from a small surf candy and other smaller bait patterns aswell as shrimp patterns even glow bugs! The smaller the better. The ideal depth of water is between 1.5 - 4 meters. The St. leonards boat ramp is an ideal area with plenty of flats and grass beds. I tend to find usually there will be Garfish with the whiting so its handy to take a floating line with you! :)

Hi all,

Thanks for your replies. I still haven't got round to trying it, but will go real soon. I think Hare's Ear and shrimp patterns will be the way to go. I'm sure it will work.

Thanks. :D
