Smoking trout the easy way

I use one of those 4 burner BBQs with a hood.
I put wood chunks over one burner long enough to get them to get coals, turn off the burner, drop a bit of water onto any wood that is burning too much, put the fish in the cradle of the lid and shut the lid.
I reckon it works better than the smoke box, as it doesn't cook the flesh as fast, so you get more smoke into the flesh.
I also reckon you should fillet or remove the skin to assist smoke takeup.
