LUHRS 31 OPEN

Due to arrive in Australia in January 2006, the Luhrs 31 Open is a serious sportsfisher with comfortable cruising accommodation, engineered to offer the best performance and accommodations for its size. A wide beam provides stability; a Carolina style flared bow keeps the ride dry; and a raised bridgedeck and sunshade offer optimal visibility.

The 31 Open is loaded with a long list of standards that are often offered as options on this size of boat. Fire extinguishing system, CE Certification, compass, recessed trim tabs, and battery charger to name a few. Even the custom alloy welded tower and hardtop come as standard as do electronic engine controls on the bridgedeck and tower.

Luhrs realises that boating is mostly about outdoor living, so rather than cramming the interior with accommodation, they provide a forward dinette area that converts into two singles or a double berth with two roomy berths above. This has left ample room for a full service galley to starboard featuring a generous working area, fridge/freezer and microwave. To port there is a roomy, full fibreglass head (electric toilet, holding tank, and macerator) and stand-up shower. There are clever storage ideas throughout the interior including an under floor carpeted rod storage, drawers in the entry steps, and a large bedding / cushion stowage bin forward.

The smart design even extends to the engine room, which rivals that of most 40 footers. The mechanical, electrical and running systems are heavy duty to ensure reliability and longetivity. A good example of Luhrs attention to detail is the standard provision of small bilge pumps right down in the bilge with large heavy duty ones raised 100mm above the normal level. Using the twin shaft drive 315hp Yanmar diesel engines you can expect a top speed of 30 knots with an economical cruise speed of around 20 knots giving approximately 450 miles range.

The spacious cockpit includes a large transom fishbox, insulated live well / ice-box, prep-tation with sink, cutting board & livewell, fresh & raw water washdowns, tackle drawers, and a transom door as standard.

The bridgedeck provides comfortable seating for passengers while the helmsman is treated to a dash with room for the latest in big screen electronics. But life with a Luhrs Open is all about skippering from the easily accessed tower that is fitted with full controls. Up here you have unparalleled visibility for fighting a fish and enjoying the ride. The ride in the tower personifies the Luhrs experience.
