New Products, Models, Gadgets! Luhrs 28 Open One of the newest models in the Luhrs range, the 28 Open, is also proving one of the most popular, with over 180 already built. This boat is an absolute pleasure to drive offshore in smooth and rough conditions in terms of performance, ride, and handling. The Luhrs 28 Open is available in Runabout, Hardtop, and Tower versions. The Runabout is set-up for a removable softop and like the Hardtop, is ideal for waterways where height is an issue. The Tower model offers all the benefits of a flybridge without the weight. Upper and lower helm stations mean skippers are not trapped on the bridge all day by themselves. At 9.7m (31’10”) LOA (plus swim platform) and 3.5m (11’6”) Beam, the Luhrs 28 Open is a big boat, and offers petrol & diesel shaft drive power options. Powered by twin economical and popular 240 HP Yanmar diesels, the 28 Open offers 30-knot top speed and over 500 mile cruising range. The electronic engine controls and crisp steering make driving this boat a real joy. Outdoors the layout suits both keen fishermen and entertainers, with fresh and salt-water wash downs, large icebox, live bait tank, transom storage bin, and loads of useable space in the big cockpit and raised bridge deck areas. Down below, the accommodations include double and single berths for 4 people, a galley, and enclosed head with electronic toilet and shower.
