LIGHTEST FOUR-STROKES EVER PRODUCED!

Honda’s new BF75 and BF90 four-stroke EFI outboards are the lightest weight engines ever produced in their class!

Weighing just 162kg and 163kg respectively, the completely-redesigned engines are 4-5kg lighter than their nearest weight competitor, and boast power-to-weight ratios on par with that of two-stroke outboards.

Honda Marine Manager Tim Davies said the BF75/90’s best-in-class hole shot and top-end performance would eliminate the common misconception that four-stroke outboards were “heavy and sluggish”.

“With the exception of the cylinder sleeves, the new BF75/90 features an all-aluminium alloy block, resulting in a very lightweight engine,” Mr Davies said.

“Honda’s unique ability to further boost performance while keeping engine weight to a minimum brings all the advantages of advanced four-stroke technology – superior fuel efficiency, whisper-quiet operation and first-class environmental performance – within reach of more boaters.

“The argument that four-strokes are heavy and sluggish compared to two-strokes has no merit whatsoever!”

The BF75/90’s mind-blowing hole shot performance is a combination of Honda’s revolutionary Boosted Low Speed Torque (BLAST™) system, which advances ignition timing during acceleration, and an exclusive high-performance gear case design. Together with a low 2.33:1 ratio, the hydrodynamic gear case features an enlarged bullet and new anti-splash and cavitation plates to reduce drag.

“Multi-port Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI), which delivers precise amounts of air/fuel to each of the four cylinders, also accurately controls ignition timing across the entire rev range, providing optimum overall performance,” Mr Davies said.

“The BF90 also features Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control (VTEC™) – technology developed for Honda’s high-performance sportscars, which provides a unique blend of power, torque and efficiency at any speed.”

The super-lightweight, high-performance BF75/90 will be available in Australia by the end of the year.
