NEW LIGHTWEIGHT MUSTAD SIGNATURE CIRCLE HOOK

Mustad has added a new, purpose-built circle fly hook to its Signature hook range. The C51SBLN is a new lightweight Circle Streamer hook. It complements the existing stainless S71S SS circle originally introduced for saltwater fly fishing.

The Mustad Signature C51SBLN is the first circle fly hook that is a credible contender for freshwater fly fishing. The size range starts at 2/0 and goes down to size 16, making it probably the smallest circle hook on the market and therefore suitable for many trout fly patterns.

The C51S BLN is forged, with a black nickel finish and chemically sharpened Signature point. It was developed by Mustad's hook design guru Geir Sivertzen ("Dr Hook"), following requests from flyfishers from many parts of the world, including Australia and New Zealand.

The C51SBLN is two gauges lighter than its stainless saltwater counterpart, with a 1 x long shank. That, plus its wide size range, makes it suitable for many nymph and wet fly patterns. But it will also do well on many bass, estuary and light saltwater flies.

Also, the C51SBLN can take gold beads. That opens up many fly tying options.

And there's no law that says fly hooks can only be used for fly fishing. The Signature C51SBLN also has great potential as a natural bait hook. Those looking for a light circle hook for bait fishing for whiting, bream, trout and similar species will find the C51SBLN ideal for this purpose.

Available from good tackle stores.
