"IGNITE" SPINNING REELS

Okuma's latest releases include "Ignite" spinning reels with a price tag that puts them in reach of value conscious anglers. They have a graphite body and rotor, a ported spool, and a multi-disc front drag.

The Ignite range has a drive train with elliptical gearing and 4 ball bearings plus a quick set anti-reverse bearing to prevent backward movement of the handle.

The reel shown is an IT-40, with a 5:1 gear ratio and a machined aluminium spool that holds 240 metres of 4KG line or 170 metres of 5KG.

Light line anglers fishing for bream, whiting or trout may prefer the IT-30 with its capacity of 190 metres of 3KG. Surf anglers, and others looking for heavier gear would be interested in the IT-55 or the larger IT-80 with 4.5:1 gearing and holding 285 metres of 10KG line.

Elliptical gearing is a popular feature with anglers who customise the line lay to their own preference. By adding or removing spacer washers supplied with the reel it is possible to flare the line lay to the back or front of the spool, or have it laid with a level surface.
