Pflueger® Contender® Lever Drag Light Game Reels

The Pflueger Contender Lever Drag Series offers reliability, versatility, functionality and performance for the offshore angler.  With the addition of the NEW Contender G40L, the Pflueger Contender Series now has a reel to suit all offshore fishing situations.  We have enclosed information below with a couple of features that make these reels special.

Lever Drag System

The massive Tritek ™ lever drag washer provides over 250% more surface area than the combined surface area of washers found in comparable size star drag reels. Tritek is a specially formulated hybrid material, which offers the best combination of smoothness, power, durability, low start-up friction and low maintenance. Since it is a ‘dry’ drag system periodic re-lubrication of the washers is not necessary. As with any fishing reel, it is always a good idea to back off on the drag setting after fishing or when stowing the reel for an extended period of time. This will relieve pressure on the drag washers and extend the life of the system. Other industrial applications for the same fiber used in the Tritek drag are aerospace booster rockets, automatic transmissions, commercial airliner and race car brake pads.

Smart Click System™

The exclusive patent pending Smart Click System™ is designed to emit a loud click only when the spool is turning forward, as when a fish is pulling off line. Even when the click is activated, it is silent when the handle is turned.
