Simrad – the future is now

Simrad’s highly-flexible Glass Bridge is the latest integrated navigation system for large powerboats and superyachts.

The powerful GB60 is the first of three versions to be released in Australia (GB40 and GB30 due for release later this year) and provides skippers and crew with a total overview of their surroundings and complete control of the vessel.

Based on a dual-processor black box, the unique GB60 is the most versatile navigation system on the market. Data from the black box can be displayed on multiple monitors and configured in different ways with any combination of applications. Vector charts, photos, radars, navigation information, raster charts, 3D, video inputs and much more can be displayed, all at an exceptionally high resolution.

Complementing the system is a series of sharp, stylish Glass Bridge monitors available in 305mm, 380mm and 480mm sizes and in two versions: standard or with a frame for easier flush mount. The monitors have been developed to not only perform better than before, but are physically 25 per cent smaller than other monitors currently available, without compromising the actual display.

The GB60 is very easy to use with a control panel that can be built into the armrest to operate the system at the bridge, while a keypad, track ball, or even a standard keyboard and mouse will also operate the system.

NMEA 2000 compatible, the new GB60 system is easily interfaced to a Simrad GPS and autopilot – even the vessel’s onboard entertainment system can be interfaced to the GB60!

For advanced route planning, the ETA calculator predicts estimated fuel use, best departure time, transit time and speed required for an individual leg or an entire journey.

The new GB60 also uses state-of-the-art navigation charts, which feature a large amount of special data including aerial and satellite photos, 3D bathymetric charts, topographical charts, tides and currents as well as ports and services information.

Designed with simplicity and chart clarity in mind, this specialised cartography contains all the data required for safe and easy navigation anywhere in the world.
