This reel was designed to the demanding specifications of the professional bass tournament circuits in the US and Japan. When sent this reel, rated medium freshwater, for field testing I decided to give it a fair dinkum test under harsh conditions.

There is no tougher freshwater fish in Aussie waters than a big sooty grunter and they, along with barramundi provide the most demanding freshwater fishing available in local environs.

During a week long excursion in tropical North Queensland the President LP handled violent encounters with high jumping barra and knock down, thumb lock brawls with sooties over 3kg. This a big ask from a small, low profile reel designed for bass but the President is functioning as smoothly now as it did straight from the box.
