DEVILBEND A NEW VISION….

Future management directions and strategies for Devilbend
Reserve to be workshopped.

Parks Victoria is hosting a community workshop on Sunday 25 November 2007 to
provide interested members of the public an opportunity to give their views on the future
management directions and strategies for Devilbend Reserve on the Mornington
Peninsula.

VRFish Executive Officer, Christopher Collins said “this is an exciting time for
recreational fishers. The Government has provided, in its recreational fishing policy, the
opportunity to develop a new fishery at Devilbend to service recreational fishers who live
in metropolitan Melbourne. This new fishery will be designed to provide families of all
ages, experience and abilities to enjoy a unique environment as well as the pleasure of
catching a fish”.

VRFish is keen on developing the full potential of the two major reservoirs within the
Reserve.

Collins continued “VRFish’s future vision for Devilbend is to ensure that its
environmental values are protected, whilst also providing excellent fishing opportunities
for recreational anglers.”

VRFish will partner with Fisheries Victoria to ensure a robust risk assessment is
undertaken to establish which species of fish are best suited.

“VRFish hope to see Devilbend Reservoir managed as a multi-use fishery that will have
its conservation values protected and be a place that can be experienced by the whole
community” concluded Collins.
