SHARE YOUR FISHING EXPERIENCE FOR A CHANCE TO WIN FISHING GEAR

Families with children who caught their first fish over the holidays should send in a digital
photograph to the new Go Fishing in Victoria gallery for a chance to win a rod and reel package, Acting Executive Director of Fisheries Victoria, Jon Presser, said today.

He said that families often fished together during the Christmas break when holidaying near
water.

“For the younger members of the family it is often the time when they catch their first fish and get hooked on fishing,” Mr Presser said.

“The new gallery feature on the Go Fishing in Victoria website provides somewhere to share
your ‘first fish’ experiences with others who might want to get more involved with fishing or are planning a trip of their own.

If you have recently attended a Department of Primary Industries (DPI) Family Fishing event or fished in one of Victoria’s ‘Premier’ lakes or rivers you are also encouraged to submit a photograph.

Photographs should be emailed to go.fishing@dpi.vic.gov.au and must be accompanied with the consent form which is available from www.dpi.vic.gov.au/gofishing by following the link
entitled ‘share your experience’.

It is also important to include the name of the young angler/s, the species, the location of the capture and any other details that make the capture special.

Everyone who has their photograph published in the gallery will go into a prize draw to win one of several rod and reel packages that will be given away during the year.

“So get the family out fishing for a fun day and make sure to take a digital camera along to capture the moment,” Mr Presser said.

Go Fishing in Victoria is a $3.2 million Government initiative launched in 2006 which aims to increase opportunities for recreational fishing across Victoria by improving facilities and
promoting fishing as a fun and healthy outdoor family activity.
