PORT PHILLIP
Carrum
Good reports are still flowing in, with the snapper well spread and good bags of fish coming in from varying depths. The key at the moment with the fish so spread out is to deploy a good berley near the bottom and be patient.
Jason Fitzgerald fished out from Carrum on the weekend, and although he didn’t turn a reel on the reds, at 9.30am a big gummy estimated at around the 25kg mark climbed on his silver whiting. After a great fight which kept Jason guessing as to what it was, he finally had the fish on the floor of the boat, After an inspection of the belly, Jason made the right decision to release the big girl as she was in "pup".

Andrew Paraponaris with a brace of reds taken while fishing deep off Carrum after dark.

Fish of this size have been plentiful around the Spoil Grounds. This one inhaled a silver whiting just after dark
Spoil Grounds
This area has been very productive, with my last two trips out being sensational. With reds on the bite from the moment we dropped the pick, the area has seen a lot of fish in the 1kg-3kg bracket, with early morning and late afternoon equally effective.
Best baits have been silver whiting and pilchards.

A mixed bag taken out from the Spoil Grounds.
Altona/Point Cook
Anthony Laureano and friend fished off Altona early on Wednesday morning and hit the reds on the first drop. By 7.30am they had bagged out with 6 fish to 5.5kg, while his cousin Robbie fishing next to him in another boat with a friend also double bagged on reds to 5kg.
Out from the point (Pine Trees) has been reliable for a session on the reds, with many boats reaching their limit. Fish ranging from 1.5kg-4kg have been taken in depths of 10m-16m.
South Australia (Eyre Peninsula)

A monster 38kg kingfish taken by Joe Vella. The fish ate a whole salmon fished under a balloon
Charlie holding the second fish of the trip, not quite as big as the first kingy, but it still dragged the scales down to a massive 33kg.
Good luck, and catch a big one!!
