Lake Mulwala
Fishing over the past week has generally been a little quieter without many reports coming in. The best fish I have heard about was a 17lb Murray cod caught by Terry Griffith trolling in the Khyber Pass area in the top of the lake around Majors Creek.
Below Yarrawonga Weir
Still fishing well for many undersize Murray cod, trout cod and yellowbelly on bait with the odd fish being picked up trolling and casting lures/spinnerbaits. There have been reports of people fishing right below the weir off the weir apron. This is highly dangerous and highly illegal. Have a think... is a fish worth costing you all your gear plus a hefty fine or worse still - your life?
Cobram Area

Fishing has been steady with yellas being the main catch on cast lures with the odd legal size cod being picked up on bardies.
Echuca Area

Below Echuca last Sunday around the Wimby area 1 gentleman trolled up 2 legal size Murray cod and 2 yellas on Tiegar Lures. He also fished again on Tuesday for only 2 undersize cod caught on bardies. Below Torumbarry has been fishing well for yellas down to Koondrook/Barham area with Leitchville fishing legend Shane Edge picking up some good fish around the Cohuna area.
Swan Hill Area
Brought to you by Andrew Ash at Hunter Marine, Swan Hill, Ph 50322320.
This area has been the hot spot over the last week with some big fish being caught between Swan Hill and Murrabit. Fish ranging from 28, 45, 50 and 65lb were caught. A couple were caught trolling black and white Codger/Stumpjumper lures whilst the other 2 were caught on setlines. Personally the quicker the Fisheries ban the use of setlines the better the fishing will become for all of us. Kangaroo Lake has been fishing well around the north end for redfin. The best method being the use of minnows if you can catch them around the weir area. The fish being caught are up to the 2lb mark.
Benalla Area
Brought to you by Reg Smith from Harrison's Hardware, Benalla, Ph 57621444.
Lake Mokoan is producing many yellas with the average size being between 25-35 cm. No great reports of fish of any great size over the last week. Lake Nillahcootie is still producing reddies up to 2 1/2 lb. A Benalla local caught 17 during the week in 2 hrs and on a couple of occasions was catching 2 at a time. Best bait there was small yabbies. No reports this week for Broken River.
Shepparton Area
Brought to you by Steve Trellfall and the boys at Shepp Outdoor Sports,
Ph 58216572.
The Goulburn River is still producing some good yellas on shrimp and spinnerbaits with most cod caught struggling to reach the 50cm mark. Waranga Basin is still fishing very well for reddies when it is not too windy. Best methods being trolling small type lures in around 15ft of water. Fish are averaging up to 2 lb.
Bendigo Area
Brought to you from Kevin at Henderson's Canvas & Fishing, Ph 54438266.
Lake Eppalock has been patchy while Cairn Curran Reservoir is still producing reddies if you can find the schools. Depth ranges from 35-55 ft being most successful.
RECOMMENDED HOT SPOT
For Murray cod try between Murrabit - Swan Hill or Lake Mulwala.
For yellowbelly I would be trying Lake Mokoan and setting my own limit @ 35cm
For redfin have a look Lake Nillahcootie or the Waranga Basin.
