Port Phillip Bay - Black Rock to Werribee
18 November 2005
With Peter Jolly
The Yarra has been very quiet from the Warmies right the way up to the Docklands. The only fish caught of any note was a 3 kilo mulloway behind the power station on Douglas Parade. The Warmies is cold and has had no decent fishing there at all so far, nothing has changed.
Up near the Footscray Road bridge there have been a few smaller bream but nothing really about. Of the ones that were caught, some had spawned and some hadn't. May be a reason why it's a bit on the quiet side.
Werribee River is going again with some decent bream both at the mouth and further up the river, weed is still a worry and a very close watch on the rods is needed.
Around Port Melbourne at Station Pier and Webb Dock has been very quiet for snapper this week so the locals went out to Ricketts and the dumper marks on the evening of the 17th and morning of the 18th and did not turn a reel at all, even the flathead were quiet.
The pro netters are complaining that the bait fish schools have disappeared from the bay to who knows where (their nets?) and their catches of snapper/pinkies have dropped alot, so they say.
Have a good weekend.
