Name: Matthew Borg

Nickname: Matty b, Borgy.

Age: 25

Resides: Sunbury

Occupation: Teacher.

Place of birth: Mackay North Queensland

Fishing history:
As I have grown and matured, fishing has become even more enjoyable to me. All the hard painstaking hours of committed fishing and observing others as a youngster have began to pay off. Fishing to me is more than going out once in a while to relax, it's about researching an area and observing what's happening in the environment; water condition, pressure systems, feeding patterns, and any other of the myriad of environmental factors which effect fishing. The combination of knowing where to fish, what to fish with and not being afraid of some really hard fishing is what I see as a fruitful recipe for piscatorial success.

What I like:
Getting together with mates, VB cans, a good fishing yarn, all rolled into the sport of angling.

What I don't like:
Ignorant people who do not respect others or this great country in which we live.

Funniest fishing moment:
While spinning on Toolondo at 4% capacity hooking up to a 6lb tench using a rapala CD7. The funny thing was I fowl hooked its dorsal fin, it fought like a steam train.

First freshwater fish:
Redfin in Jacksons Creek at the age of 7.

First saltwater fish:
Gummy shark off Indented Head, Port Phillip Bay.

First fish caught on fly:
30cm buck brown caught on a Royal Wulf late in the afternoon in a small pool at O'Brien's Crossing.

Favorite eating fish:
Flathead.

Favorite fish to catch:
Murray cod, trout, redfin, who am I kidding?? All of them.

Favorite fishing areas:
Cairn Curran, Lake Fyans, Murray River.
