8TH ANNUAL MURRAY RIVER - BARMAH LAKES ANGLING CLASSIC
Held 22-23 February 2003

Conducted by the Picola United F.N.C. Angling Club.

Again, a highly successful and well attended event conducted in perfect weather and fishing conditions.

Thirty-six legal sized Murray Cod weighed in.

Largest cod caught by Dean Mark (Mooroopna) weighing 4.3 kg.

Winner of the Major Prize ($2,000 voucher) from Yamaha & Solar City Marine (Shepp) for a secret weigh Murray Cod was young 12 year old Picola angler Brento Minchin who caught a 1.31 kg Murray Cod, the closet weight to the secret weight of 1.5 kg and also the very smallest fish weighed in the comp.

Dannielle Florence (Tongala) won the ladies' section (for the second successive year) with a 1.84 kg Murray Cod.

The winner of the Yamaha outboard motor (available to all entrants) was Dean Hartley (Cobram).

Some of the proceeds will be used to stock the Broken Creek between Nathalia and the Murray River with native fish.
