Seeking directions to Baxters Beach
John Cramer writes:
Can you please tell me where Baxters Beach, Victoria, is? Thanks, John.

Alan McFayden replies:
Baxters Beach is not very hard to find if you do not mind a 20 minute trek through sand dunes. To get there just as you come into the outskirts of Wonthaggi (from Melbourne), turn right just past the Shell service station and follow your nose and you will see the hospital on the right. Go past the hospital until you come to Cameron Street which is about 150 metres further on. Turn right and continue on and turn right at Campbell Street which is is the forth street on the right. This is a "T" intersection and just go down this street until you come to a gate. Go through the gate and drive to the end of the gravel road until you can go no further. This is where the 20 minute trek starts but the water is great with deep holes and as you probably saw in the "Tightlines" report this week there was one trout 5lbs and one 7lbs caught there area recently and there has been plenty of other good fish since. Well worthwile the trip I would suggest. Hope this is of some help.
