Look, I'm 17 and sick to death of all this marine parks bullshit. All I want to do is go out with a couple of mates for a dive, get a couple of abalone or just toss in a line and catch a couple of fish, I'm not out to take every fish from the ocean. If these proposed marine parks do go ahead, it'll be a little stiff on me and all my mates, 'cause we won't have anywere at all to fish or dive. We'll be able to go out to area's we used to fish when we're with our granda kids and say "we used to go fishing over there, I pulled in a 6 pound salmon just on those rocks but you can't go there or else you'll get locked up"... Now for all I know the marine parks won't be going ahead, I've heard bugger all about it and personally I want to know what's going on. 'Cause if I'm not allowed to fish in my most favorites spots it looks like I'm gunna wind up in jail. I say go for it, lock me up but if you wanna save the fish stop the netters down at Lakes Entrance who catch hundreds of tons of Australian salmon and sell them to the cat food company. Oh and do me a favour every time you feed your loved pet just realise you are contributing to the reduction of our fish stocks more than I ever will.

Marine Parks are a reality. The NRE website says "Thirteen marine national parks and eleven marine sanctuaries will be established on 16 November 2002. They are located from Discovery Bay west of Portland to Cape Howe in the far east of the State. Together the parks and sanctuaries will cover nearly 54,000 hectares or 5.3 per cent of Victoria's marine waters." See http://www.nre.vic.gov.au/coasts and follow the Marine Parks link near the top right for more information.
