When does squid season start?

Could anyone tell me when the squid season starts? Preferably around the Mornington area. I know you can still get the odd one or two, but that's not what I'm after. Thanks.

Wally replies:
The squid season starts around the last week of August. I find that the squid around Mornington Pier are a lot smaller than ones around the Bellarine Peninsula. Generally I find that squid go off the bite early November till after New Year's when good catches are made well into early winter. I prefer to use both lures and fresh baited jigs fished just on the shadows of light, just as the light starts to fade...
