Damaging west coast rocks and shoreline

Michael Pannam writes:
Pillaging and stripping of the west coast's rocks and shore lines is rife. It is incomprehensible that in this day and age, despite the community's awareness of the irreversible damage that we are doing to our marine ecology, that some cerebrally dysfunctional people choose to ignore laws and regulations to strip bare sections of our coast.
I realise that it is nigh on impossible to patrol and monitor all of our beaches but maybe more money should be set aside for increasing the numbers of inspectors?
I found it frustrating to see on two consecutive nights a group of well organised thoughtless people strip bare the rocks I was fishing from. I rang the local police but this incident was not attended unfortunately on either night. Next time I see them I will make sure I note down rego. nos. etc.
