Commercial vessels driving too fast
Martin writes:
Shame on you Reel & Dive Charters from Hastings for driving your 10m craft at full speed between all the boats at Tortoise Head, Western Port, on Sunday 10 March. Would it take too long to slow down next time?

Concerned Angler replies:
Martin writes on the 14th of March, of how a commercial vessel driving to fast. Well Martin, I have been out with this charter boat company and they are very professional, if you wish to anchor in the entrance to a channel, then expect this. Shame on you Martin. Thankyou.

Michael Rzeszutek replies:
I happen to know the operators of Reel & Diver charters. We have used them on several occasions. On all those occasions they have operated their vessel well within the law but also with courtesy and a high regard for other boats using the water. I know for a fact that they are also small boat operators and would no endanger smaller craft by getting too close. One must also note that a large vessel will create a much larger wake if not on the plane. The other point to remember is that area is a crossing for 3 major channels which is often thick with boats during the elephant silly season. Anchoring near a thorough fare certainly does not help things. They certainly would not put their passengers in any danger by breaking the law.
