Frustrating experience at the Warmies

Vera Saron writes:
We were advised by many to go to the Williamstown area where the powerstation is. We found out that the fish are not really on until the pump starts, and then the place to be is near the pump where the warmer water is for catching tailor. We caught no fish and were there a long, long time. However people next to us caught flathead, bream and trevally using the same bait, so we were just unlucky. I must admit we will not be returning there, as too many of the anglers were absent of the common courtesy of a little distance from fellow fishermen. We frequently had people standing right next to us (within one metre) and casting over our lines and snagging each other. This was frustrating to say the least. There were over 200 people there after 4pm. Is it any less populated at the docklands?

Dazza replies:
Vera, I know what you mean about the warmies/hotties being a difficult place to fish at times, and also the lack of common courtesy shown by many anglers there. Unfortunately, many of the anglers there seem to show total disrespect for both fellow anglers, and the fishing regulations that most of us responsible anglers abide by. I see so many undersize fish being caught there, and sadly, NOT released to fight another day. And I think you'll find the docks is a much more comfortable place to fish, with a lot more room to move. You'll never have to worry about crossing lines with other anglers there. And there are some great fish to be caught there! Check out the "photo gallery" section to see some of the mulloway that have been caught there in recent months. And some monster bream get caught there too. Good luck.
