Andre writes:

I am a charter operator out of Williamstown and I am alarmed at the increase in the amount of stealth gill netting going on around the back of Williamstown each night of the week. I watch these illegal netters most days of the week around dusk, zip out in their little dingies, no lights, etc., with nets aboard. Surely these guys don't have professional licences. I have talked to NRE, but they do nothing. No one is monitoring or checking. I give notice, be warned netters I will pirate your boat if I catch you. All recreational fishermen, if you see something suspicious check it out, call the police or NRE. Protect the fishery for the future. These bastards are certainly going to put a quick end to the snapper season for all of us. Andre.
