Is 4 lines per person too much?

Tez Fidan writes:
We went to Flinders Pier on Tuesday last week and we saw a man with 8 hand lines in the water for catching squid, they were all 1 metre apart. Even to have 4 lines is more than plenty. It is hard enough to look after 2 rods at once, I can't imagine how a person looks after 4, let alone 8. I think the number of lines in the water per person should be dropped to 2. Thank you, Tez Fidan.
