Spearfishing out of hand at McCrae

Jack writes:
I live in Rosebud on the Mornington Peninsula and often go spearfishing throughout the bay. I was disgusted over the summer of '02/'03 to see the squillions of tourists that were spearing toadies, puffers, tiny rays, etc., at McCrae. Not once did I see a legal size fish landed (apart from myself) throughout the entire summer. Most of these fish were also left on the beach to rot. Before the holidays, I was taking large octopus, a 60cm flathead and the bag limit of leatherjackets (I was always careful not to take anything undersize). But now, after the holidays, I don't even see the smallest of leatherjacket when I visit McCrae. Sure, these tourist bring their wallets to the Peninsula, and most of them are great people, but some of them also bring their stupid behaviour and their need to spear countless amounts of inedible fish. Next summer, I'll be armed with a mobile phone and the rangers number to catch these irresponsible wanks.
