17-18 September 2005, Matty H
Location: Parent's Dam near Inverloch Time: When the kids woke till dark
Type of Water: Lake Type of Fishing: Shore
Target Fish: Rainbow trout
Bait\Lure\Fly: Spinner, bread
Fish Caught:

24 x rainbows @ 45cm-60cm

Comments: Social weekend at my parent's farm between Inverloch and Tarwin Lower. Weather was good Sunday, and would have been perfect for Waratah Bay, but it wasn't prudent for me to leave a family gathering to fish. Anyway, the trout that my wife and I stocked the dam with 5 years ago are really kicking on, and still present in good numbers. There's no real challenge, but it's great for the kids, and with the bigger trout in beautiful condition and pushing 6lb, teaches them something about the art of angling. All catch and release.

Location: Andersons Inlet Time: 4.30pm-6.30pm
Type of Water: Bay Type of Fishing: Shore
Target Fish: Trevally, salmon
Bait\Lure\Fly: Pippies, whitebait
Fish Caught:

3 x trevally @ 350g-600g
1 x ling @ 400g

Comments: Fished between town centre and ocean bar, between middle and top of incoming tide, off the beach. A bit of weed, but lots of bites especially on the whitebait. Used a paternoster with two hooks (No.4 long shank). Best result with the soft bait is to tie two whitebait together with Bait-mate elastic before inserting hook. Survives much longer and encourages stronger strikes.

Location: Andersons Inlet Time: 12.30pm-5.30pm
Type of Water: Estuary Type of Fishing: Boat
Target Fish: Whiting
Bait\Lure\Fly: Pippies, prawn
Fish Caught:

8 x whiting @ 32cm-40cm
1 x banjo shark @ undersize

Comments: Fished the usual spots opposite the creek and to the left of Mahers Landing with my mate Mick. Plenty of small flathead. The whiting hit hard. The banjo shark was a bit of a surprise.

Location: Andersons Inlet Time: 8am-12pm (low tide)
Type of Water: Estuary Type of Fishing: Shore
Target Fish: Whiting, flathead, snapper, gummies
Bait\Lure\Fly: Pilchards, pippies, nippers, soft plastics
Fish Caught:

1 x snook @ 65cm-70cm approx.

Comments: Fluked it using pink soft plastic with a wriggle tail. My longest saltwater fish and 1st on a soft plastic! Bait wasn't doing the trick for anyone that morning. (See photo in Gallery section.)

26 January 2005, Peter
Location: Inverloch Time: 11am-4pm
Type of Water: Estuary Type of Fishing: Boat
Target Fish: Whiting
Bait\Lure\Fly: Pippies, whiting
Fish Caught:

10 x whiting @ 30cm-39cm
1 x flathead @ 32cm
1 x trevally @ 27cm
1 x mullet @ 30cm
1 x salmon @ 30cm

Comments: Mate Derrick and I ended up bringing home 8 whiting and a flathead. Would have also had 2 more whiting and a salmon but they escaped the holding net. Also got mullet, trevally the ubiquitous toadies. All released. Fun day. Except for the flies. Even had a hitchcock movie moment when we were getting chased by them as we motored to a fishing spot. Fished opposite Screw Creek in the channel near the green buoy and out near the 3rd buoy left of Maher's Landing.
