Today the weather was so damn hot so I called up my new dive buddy Nathan Green. We caught the arvo low tide and conditions were OK, very strong NW but still 1 to 2 foot swell so we couldn't go out to the good reefs so we went for crayfish. Nathan got his first crayfish, it was pretty small, just over size. We ate it for lunch, then we all headed down to Foxes Reef and Nathan had a good time shooting fish to take home for tea. No noteworthy fish but I say we had an average dive.

Perfect dusk fishing conditions, but fishing has been very poor and quiet lately down at Point Roadknight. I have been putting in the hours with very poor results.

Surf fished off Gaps, not much action till my rod went off, had a big salmon but it jumped off my hook so no fish. All beachs down here have shut down with salmon fishing.

Type of Water: Ocean Type of Fishing: Surf
Target Fish: Gummy, salmon, mulloway
Bait\Lure\Fly: Pilchard chunks, surf poppers, bluebait, beach worms
Fish Caught: 2 x pinky @ just size
1 x salmon @ 30cm
1 x ray @ bitten off
Comments:

Was originally going to the beach with the family for an all day swim. Ended up bringing 2 rods for me and dad. Didn't fish constanly, 3 sessions of about 45 minutes. My dad got the 2 pinkies on pilchard. I got the salmon on a blue surf popper. I also got bitten off by what I think was a large ray. Could only see a faint shadow in the waves. Lots of small salmon/mullet/whiting in the shallows. Not ideal conditions. Rough at times, hot and cloudy.
