Type of Water: Bay Type of Fishing: Pier
Target Fish: Salmon, mullet
Bait\Lure\Fly: Pipis
Fish Caught:

8 x salmon @ 30cm-35cm
4 x mullet @ oversize
2 x blowfish @ yuk!

Comments:

Me and my friend went to Johanna beach but it was very choppy and I was almost swept to sea by a large wave. We then headed to the breakwater at Apollo Bay. Nothing but small salmon (all thrown back) the first day, but on the second day we caught salmon galore and a few mullet. Blowfish were annoying but it was worth standing in the pouring rain for that salmon! Oh yeah, my friend caught most of them, I only got 2 and one got away.

Definitely one of the best and safest places to fish on the Great Ocean Rd. Pinkies where caught off the rocks using squid. (See photo in Gallery section.)

1 x mackerel @ 25cm
10 x mullet @ 45cm
1 x salmon @ 50cm

Comments:

Great day for fishing. A good idea to fish from the end of the breakwater if you can spot some mullet. Salmon caught in channel close to the entrance of the harbour. No school seen, I think they only enter the harbour alone or in groups of two or three, but hang out further from the entrance. Spotted a massive salmon as we were throwing in our bait, swimming close to shore. Goes to show that they don't hang out in deeper water often when they come into the harbour. Hope this info was of some use, for now, cheers. (See photo in Gallery section.)

Was fun fishing off the jetty, especially seeing all the fish swimming under you, especially a school of mullet.

Location: Apollo Bay Time: All day
Type of Water: Estuary Type of Fishing: Shore
Target Fish: Bream, mullet, trout, snapper, 'couta, whiting, trevally, squid
Bait\Lure\Fly: Pipi, prawn, mullet fillets, pillies, scrubbies
Fish Caught:

5 x bream @ 10cm-30cm
16 x tommy rough @ 15cm-20cm
1 x squid @ 10cm
5 x mullet @ 10cm-20cm

Comments:

Went down for 3 days, within 10 secs we had our first fish, a 20cm trevally caught in the harbour. Mullet were caught off the rock wall by the truck load on pipis, with the occasional tommy roug. The Barham had a big school of bream taking prawns again with the occasional tommy rough, and out in the boat we had gummies, snapper and 'couta on mullet fillets and pillies. The squid were in the harbour but all pretty small. The Barham had schools of baby bream everywhere for about 800m of the river that we walked along from 5cm-15cm.
