15 September 2005, Al
Location: Beaufort Lake Time: 11am-2.30pm
Type of Water: Lake Type of Fishing: Boat
Target Fish: Redfin
Bait\Lure\Fly: Live minnows, lure
Fish Caught: 2 x brown trout @ small 1 x rainbow trout @ small
Comments: Dropped the boat in hoping for a redfin. Used minnows with no success. Very windy day, however did manage to polaroid 1 x redfin of approximately 3-4 pounds cruising the shallows. Local angling club recently stocked 1,000 small trout in the lake and same could be seen cruising approximately 2 foot under the surface. Cast small bladed lure into the school and caught 3 x fiesty small trout, all released.

Location: Beaufort Lake Time: 4pm-6.30pm
Type of Water: Lake Type of Fishing: Shore
Target Fish: Redfin, trout
Bait\Lure\Fly: Scrubworms, yabbies
Fish Caught: None.
Comments: Delightful little spot. Stayed in one of the cabins overnight. Obviously it was not the busy season and was wonderfully peaceful. Some fish would have capped off a pleasant stopover, but alas it was not to happen.

Location: Beaufort Lake Time: 7am-9.30am, 4.30pm-6.30pm
Type of Water: Lake Type of Fishing: Boat
Target Fish: Redfin, trout
Bait\Lure\Fly: Lure
Fish Caught: 2 x redfin @ 45cm
3 x redfin @ 42cm
3 x redfin @ 40cm
2 x redfin @ 37cm
1 x redfin @ 33cm
2 x brown trout @ 40cm
Comments: The old man & I chucked Celtas & Silver Wobblers for 2 sessions every day. The old man (Gary) was getting frustrated as he had to wait till the 3rd last day to claim his first, a 45cm reddie. A magic little lake with a brilliant caravan park on the banks. (See photo in Gallery section.)

Location: Beaufort Lake Time: 11.30am-3pm
Type of Water: Lake Type of Fishing: Shore
Target Fish: Redfin, trout
Bait\Lure\Fly: Mudeyes
Fish Caught: 2 x rainbow trout @ 35cm
Comments: I had never fished Beaufort before, so I chose my trusty maggots as a failsafe. I got the first rainbow at 12.30, then it went quiet. I swapped 1 rod to Powerbait, to get over the weed, and instantly got the other. I guess the area was saturated with maggots and berley from my earlier attempts. Both fought very well given their size. Might bring the boat down for a touch of Loch Style soon. The lake is currently closed to water skiing, so fishos have right of way!!!

Fish Caught: 7 x redfin @ up to a kilo

Comments: All fish caught under either a quill float or bubble float, fished very well for a little lake. Thanks to other fishos for their reports or we would never had gone there!

Location: Beaufort Lake Time: Late afternoon
Type of Water: Lake Type of Fishing: Wading

Fish Caught: 1 x redfin @ 38cm
1 x redfin @ 40cm
1 x redfin @ 46cm
1 x redfin @ 30cm
2 x rainbow trout @ 32cm
Comments: My young bloke Garrit did best landing the 46cm and 40cm reddies using large Ondex spinners. Love this underated lake which does hold quality redfin and trout. Did see numerous large trout rising all over the lake. The water level is quite good. All fish were in excellent condition.
