Location: Bemm River Time: 10am
Type of Water: Estuary Type of Fishing: Shore
Target Fish: Luderick
Bait\Lure\Fly: Green weed
Fish Caught: None, see comment below.
Comments: I fish for luderick almost exclusively when I'm in East Gippsland. And I'm disgusted that people still persist in calling them "niggers". This is racist and completely unacceptable. Let's use the correct (aboriginal) name of Luderick please!

But within half an hour of us getting there it RAINED and it BLEW like 40 whatsits!... but we persisted and caught 1 bream... had to throw it back being under the limit. 5-12 July 2002, Ron Matthews
Location: Bemm River Time: Every day
Type of Water: Estuary Type of Fishing: Boat
Target Fish: Bream, Australian salmon
Bait\Lure\Fly: Prawns, glassies, worm/Lazer lures
Fish Caught: 6 x bream @ 34-39 cm
30 x salmon @ 2-5 lbs
Comments: Bream are very hard to find with big winds making it difficult to hold poles. One bream of over 3lb was weighed in at Cosy Nook store. The incoming green water is now just after dark so channel has slowed down for salmon, however a school has moved into the lake in the mahogonies area, fish to 5 lb. Major fun with bream gear.

3 July 2002, Theo
Location: Binn Beach, Bemm River Time: 2-6pm
Type of Water: Ocean Type of Fishing: Surf
Target Fish: Australian salmon
Bait\Lure\Fly: Pilchard
Fish Caught: 1 x Australian salmon @ 4lb (52cm)
2 x Australian salmon @ 1.5lb (32cm)
2 x wobegong sharks (both released ) @ 75cm
Comments: Had an absolute ripper of a time down on the surf beaches at Bemm River on the Wednesday when we caught these fish, went back on the following Sunday and had no luck. P.S. Mistaken the sharks for Port Jackson sharks and that is why they were released.

15 June 2002, Wayne Coulton
Location: Bemm River Time: 11am-6pm
Type of Water: Estuary Type of Fishing: Boat
Target Fish: Bream, perch, salmon
Bait\Lure\Fly: Wobbler lure, sandworms, prawn
Fish Caught: 10 x bream @ 10-25.5cm
3 x salmon @ 1.4-1.7KG
2 x tailor @ 400g
Comments: The lake is full of undersize bream, but if you put in the time you can catch the bigger fish. On high tide the salmon and tailor came in and we had a ball, with the salmon up to 2kg. With some lost over the 2kg mark.
