Location: Porepunkah Time: 10am
Type of Water: River Type of Fishing: Wading
Target Fish: Brown trout, rainbow trout
Bait\Lure\Fly: Celtas, Rapalas
Fish Caught: 1 x brown trout @ 500g
Comments: A week before heavy rain in the area meant the lower reaches of the river were running quite dirty, so I decided to head about an hour up Buckland Valley into the high reaches of the river. Waded upstream for about an hour and saw a few smaller fish. Lost a rainbow just before I landed the brown. River looked in fairly good condition although the minimal fish sightings can be put down to the river being heavily fished over the X-mas break.

Target Fish: Trout
Bait\Lure\Fly: Worms, Celtas
Fish Caught: None, see comment below.
Comments: First visit to the Buckland since the fires. Amazing land slides, gravel flows have scoured the valley. Usually catch and release 80 fish over the NSW October long weekend every year for 30 years. Only saw one fish during entire trip, a good brown of around the 1.5kg mark. Usually see plenty of fish spooked as we wade, even if they don't follow or take the lure. Fear that fires have devestated fish population. Pete.

Location: Porepunkah Time: Morn noon & eve (with breaks)
Type of Water: River Type of Fishing: Wading
Target Fish: Trout
Bait\Lure\Fly: Lures (and some fly)
Fish Caught: Noone, see comment below.
Comments: Really a recce after recent fires. Still some signs of ash, but relatively clear. Sighted a very few small specimens but really didn't look like attracting much interest. The river has really copped it over recent years and may take some time to recover.

2 February 2002, Allan Price and Bill Finn
Location: Buckland River Valley Time: Dawn and dusk
Type of Water: River Type of Fishing: Wading
Target Fish: Trout
Bait\Lure\Fly: Wet and dry flies, misc lures
Fish Caught: 1 x brown trout @ 44 cms
Comments: Weather hot. River low and clear. Bill presented his flies brilliantly but scored a big zero. The brown was taken while the stream was disturbed by light rain and an easterly breeze.
