18 December 2007, Michael
Location: Bunyip River Time: 10am-3pm
Type of Water: River Type of Fishing: Shore
Target Fish: Trout, blackfish
Bait\Lure\Fly: Celta
Fish Caught: None
Comments: Brett mentions green fish in an earlier post. I hope he doesn't mean the Australian greyling. They have a nice green sheen to them. Good eating maybe, but they are a completely protected species and targeting them is illegal.

2 April 2007, Aaron Palmer

2 x brown trout @ 900g
2 x brown trout @ fish finger size
Comments: There were fish everywhere again, I should have had a huge one but it got off.

25 February 2007, Aaron
Location: Bunyip River Time: 1.30pm-4pm
Type of Water: River Type of Fishing: Shore
Target Fish: Browns
Bait\Lure\Fly: Spinner, hard-bodied lure
Fish Caught: 1 x brown @ 55cm-2.5kg
4 x brown @ 30cm-40cm
Comments: We had just come back from mountain bike riding and decided to go for a quick fish. It was hot and snakes were about. I caught all my fish on spinners. Brett was using a hardbodied lure and didn't even get a strike so he decided to change to a spinner and caught a brown almost instantly.

26 January 2007, Brett Murris
Location: Bunyip River Time: 10am-2am
Type of Water: River Type of Fishing: Shore
Target Fish: Murray cod, greenfish, rainbow trout
Bait\Lure\Fly: 3g red rum squidgy wriggler, 2g weighted brown eye billy bass Berkley deep diver
Fish Caught: 1 x Murray cod @ 4kg
2 x rainbow trout @ 900g
2 x rainbow trout @ 1.5kg +
Comments: The Bunyip River is really fishing well at the moment, the warmer water temperatures allow the Murray cod to readily take the brown eyed billy bass Berkely deep divers. I have found that the rainbows have also been taking a sniff at the red rum squidgy wriggler of late - a wise lure selection if fishing the Bunyip. The greenfish seem to have gone off the bite although when the water rises there will be more wombats for them to catch. Really try fishing in the narrow deep channels as that's where the greenfish usually are and they are a fine table fish. Cheers.

19 January 2007, Aaron & Brett
Location: Bunyip Time: All day
Type of Water: River Type of Fishing: Shore
Target Fish: Brown trout, blackfish
Bait\Lure\Fly: Soft plastics, grass hoppers, bush cockroach
Fish Caught: 2 x browns @ 1kg+
1 x blackfish @ 2kg, 45cm+
1 x short-finned eel @ 80cm
Comments: The Lower Bunyip is really firing, we started off the day flicking lures around snags and in deep holes but when access got minimal we decided to bait fish which we had hardly done before. We caught some native local bait and pulled in a huge blackfish (biggest one we had ever seen).

1 January 2006, Brett & Aaron
Location: Bunyip Time: After lunch
Type of Water: River Type of Fishing: Shore

Bait\Lure\Fly: Spinnerbaits, hard-bodied, deep dive and squirmy lures
Fish Caught: 2 x trout @ 800g
11 x trout @ 1.3kg-2kg
Comments: This was our best day ever. We anticipated catching only a few small trout but the day was action packed with strikes in every hole. Brett ended up catching 5 and I ended up catching 8, a new PB. This was an awesome day. :)

15 April 2002, Paul Rahman
Location: Bunyip River Time: 4-6.30pm
Type of Water: River Type of Fishing: Shore
Target Fish: Brown trout, rainbow trout
Bait\Lure\Fly: Maggots and worms
Fish Caught: 1 x brown trout @ 20cm
3 x rainbow trout @ 11-26cm
Comments: Bank overgrown a lot with blackberries. Fished a small pool with unweighted worms and maggots with a berley cage. Only had the 4 bites which led to 4 fish. All rainbows taken on maggots and brown taken on unweighted worms. Saw a lot of small baitfish moving up the river but no trout chasing them.
