It was a great 2 days fishing but the weather was hot. Had to fish the shaded sections of the river to get the fish. I was casting lures off the bank when I hooked up on a MASSIVE yellowbelly that fought like a demon before I could finally pull it out from beneath the log that I was standing on. It was a good fight. |

Caught the yellowbelly on a yabby. First one I've ever caught so I let him live another day. Good looking fish though! |

Had fished on Thursday and earlier on Friday at Lake Eppalock and had caught only carp and 2 turtles, although most of the carp were thumpers and good fun to catch, but I wanted at least one fish to take home, so I thought I would try the Campaspe on the way home. I am not going to give the spot away, but let's just say it was near Redesdale. First two scrubworms were hit as soon as they hit the water and I couldn't believe it when I saw the cod. The 1st was 42cm and then I got the 47cm. Both went back in, after they got a kiss. I was stoked to actually see them, as they were the last things I expected to see. The yabbie took a bit longer to get taken, but when it did, it got devoured and up came the 57cm, 3.4kg redfin. It was the biggest reddie I have seen in a long time and will be enjoyed for Xmas lunch. The water was only about 2 metres deep and was very clear and flowing quite steadily. |
