Location: Aire River Time: Late afternoon
Type of Water: Ocean Type of Fishing: Surf
Target Fish: Australian salmon, mullet
Bait\Lure\Fly: Pilchard, pippi
Fish Caught: 7 x Australian salmon @ <20cm
1 x yelloweye mullet @ 35cm
Comments: Fished the surf beach at Aire River. Bit of a walk out from the camp grounds but two great gutters to fish. Fished rising tide but didn't manage to stay for the top which was at around 8.30-9pm. Heaps of small salmon around and occasional large mullet. Also cought some small salmon in the Aire River (mouth closed) which had taken on a golden tannin colour.
Ran into 3 guys setting up for gummy sharks on the night of Tue. 9th. When I returned to the beach the following day I was disgusted to find they had left a dozen empty beer cans, plastic poly and other rubbish on the beach. What's worse, these guys had a 4WD and didn't have to walk all the way in like myself. Just a shame I didn't get their rego. I'm sick and tired of seeing this kind of blatent irresponsibility!
