Location: Cape Woolamai Offshore Time: 8am-3pm
Type of Water: Ocean Type of Fishing: Boat
Target Fish: Anything
Bait\Lure\Fly: Squid, scad, silver whiting

? x 'couta @ small-medium
? x ocean perch @ small-medium
? x leatherjacket @ small-medium
? x arrow squid @ small-medium
? x morwong @ small-medium
? x flathead @ small-medium

Comments: Action was instantaneous as soon as the first bait hit the bottom out deep off Woolamai. Unfortunately the first few fish were massive rock cod. That changed with a variety of fish being boated - nanygai, pike, 'couta, ocean perch, leathers, arrows, morwong, flatties. Nothing big, but enjoyable day out nonetheless. Headed in closer to try for silver whiting and flatties but no good. Best baits were scad/squid.

Comments: With rain and thunder in Melbourne it was like we were on a different continent down at Philip Island, sun shine and perfect offshore conditions... The one that got away (YES there's always one) was a nice 10kg gummy shark lost next to the boat after a massive tangle of lines forced us to "handline" it up from 40m. We had a pod of 7 dolphins swim between our 2 boats which was entertaining between bites. The silver whiting kept us busy at the end of the trip for another mixed bag. 21 May 2006, Logan Knight
Location: Cape Woolamai Time: 7am-12pm
Type of Water: Ocean Type of Fishing: Surf
Target Fish: Salmon
Bait\Lure\Fly: Bluebait, pipis, pilchards, surf poppers, bluebait
Fish Caught:

8 x salmon @ 22cm to 45cm
1 x mullet @ 19cm

Comments: Started fishing at 7am & finished at 12pm. The weather was not on our side, the wind was from the southwest which also brought light rain with it at times. The fish that we caught made the effort all worthwhile. Just as we left the rain started to bucket down.
