Never got a touch, didn't lose a bait. However, after fishing here many times now, I actually witnessed some fish activity. Within twenty minutes of starting up I saw a trout surface breaking in and around both of my floats. Later on in the morning there was a fairly big rise in the centre of the lake, so at least I know that they're there. In an attempt to try anything that might localize my bait selection, I even tried some rabbit droppings and some flower seed pods from the surrounding trees, as these were everywhere, and I found one of these pods in a brown trout that I caught last week at Wombat Reservoir, but at that time I didn't know what it was. With recent advice from a fellow fishvic'er who has good success at
Dean, and finally the sight of some activity, I will definitely see be back in the short term to conquer my personal Everest. |

I fished the entire time under a float using only maggots, except for one bardi grub. I tried several spots around the perimeter under trees, next to structures and stumps while using different hooks and leader lengths, but unfortunately I lived up to my previous record here at Dean and never got a single touch in four hours of pro-active fishing. I am still keen to have yet another go in this idyllic setting. Not one to give up on the day, I travelled on to Newlyn Reservoir just some ten kilometres away. |

Great looking piece of water, but not a touch. |

Third time I've fished here in recent times and it was the same result, absolutely nothing, no movement at all. Fished mainly with mudeyes and worms under a float, but not a single hit. This is a really nice piece of water that gives one the impression of abundant possibilities, but looks can be (and in this case are) quite deceiving. Oh well it's back to the drawing board, as I am determined to land something from this waterhole eventually! |

After not getting a bite here last Sunday I gave it another go, but alas, nothing again, not even a single bite. I tried several areas around the shore line, fishing both under a float and on the bottom. With no rainfall there is no water stimulation and the fish are acting accordingly. It was a good day though, fishing two reservoirs in a 350km round trip from home. |

Great weather and a lovely piece of water with decent levels. Everything perfect, except nothing caught and only one bite, which was within twenty minutes of arrival. I will return to try something different. |
