Fished for an hour, the river was discoloured and running fast and high after heavy rains. Used a heavier split shot and fly hook- whole scrub worm pushed up and folded over the hook. Dropped a much larger brown trout on the bank and the rod hardly rested between bites. There was plenty of activity with fish rising and jumping on the last light of day. Have fished there for 15 years and have only ever taken blackfish. In the words of Arnie, "Ill be back!" |

Best fishing in the Gellibrand Catchment ever, between my uncle and I, 52 blackfish (I caught 27) were caught. The largest he caught was 44cm. Mine was 43cm! Most were around 30cm-35cm. Only kept 6 fish for tea, the rest were returned. We ran out of worms! |

| Fish Caught: |
2 x blackfish @ 35cm-40cm
5 x eels @ 30cm-50cm
1 x tupong @ 20cm |
| Comments: |
Largest blackfish caught on dusk, other around midnight. Eels after dark. Tupong caught next morning around 9am, casting beside fallen log (not submerged). River pretty low, but still some nice pockets to fish. A brown trout put on a show for us just before lunch, jumping out of the water to catch insects numerous times. Would have been approx 30cm long. Didn\t have any flies, and it didn't want anything to do with our mudeye! Disappointing we couldn't get it, but great to watch anyway! |
