Location: Gellibrand River Time: 1pm-11pm
Type of Water: River Type of Fishing: Shore
Target Fish: River blackfish
Bait\Lure\Fly: Worms
Fish Caught: 10 x river blackfish @ 30cm-51cm
Comments: An excellent session targeting the best eating freshwater fish in southern Australia. Largest was a 51cm monster. Between 3 of us we caught around 30 fish mostly blackfish, some trout and the annoying eel. Running sinker with locally dug river sandworms and scrubbies is the best method of capture.

Location: Larnder Creek Time: 1.30pm-6.30pm
Type of Water: River Type of Fishing: Shore
Target Fish: River blackfish
Bait\Lure\Fly: Worms
Fish Caught: 20 x river blackfish @ 20cm-45cm
Comments: My uncle and I fished on what was the perfect day for fishing - humid, muggy - weather that blackfish love. Between us we got 20. Probably our best fishing trip for the summer season.

Location: Larnder Creek Time: 12pm-2pm
Type of Water: River Type of Fishing: Shore
Target Fish: Blackfish
Bait\Lure\Fly: Worms
Fish Caught: 4 x blackfish @ 30cm
Comments: My partner caught all the blackfish, she did well! I caught zero, did all the hard work digging up the worms and baiting the hooks. Missed two beauties though that were over 40cm. Returned all the fish as we only keep the real big ones to eat.

14 January 2007, Darby
Location: Beech Forest Time: 2pm-5pm
Type of Water: River Type of Fishing: Shore
Target Fish: Eels, trout, blackfish
Bait\Lure\Fly: Worms, bread
Fish Caught: None
Comments: Not sure what town it was near and what exact river it was. Last town I saw was Beech Forest. Stayed all day at Dandos Camping Ground with the fam. Eels everywhere, but river too full of submerged branches to get anything out. Everytime you had one on you would get snagged on a branch. I ended up with nothing, but my uncle was using a float and was catching them continuously. His biggest was over 1.5 metres!

Location: Gellibrand Creeks Time: 4pm-7pm
Type of Water: River Type of Fishing: Shore
Target Fish: Blackfish, brown trout, tupong, eels
Bait\Lure\Fly: Sandworms
Fish Caught: 15 x blackfish @ 15cm-50cm
1 x brown trout @ 35cm
Comments: My uncle from Queensland was home for a holiday, so I took him and my other uncle fishing at a secret spot near Gellibrand. It is out of blackfish season so all fish were returned to the river. Going to be a fun summer if the fishing is this good this early! Blackfish are the best eating freshwater fish you can get, it is time someone started to breed them.
