Great day-in the first 5mins of arriving one of my surf rods buckled over and the drag sizzled off. I thought I had a small ray but it turned out to be a mega salmon around 4kg and 65cm. As I was lifting up it fell off. Later when I was flicking plastics I hooked another big salmon. after a good fight on my plastics tackle I walked it down to the base of the pier where i landed it. It was one hell of a fish. I forgot the drop net and no-one had one but at least I landed it.

1 x bream @ 23cm
Comments:

What a session. A heap of freshwater was coming down and the water looked brown and muddy. The rain and showers were on and off the whole day. I had a few hits on the F but I decided to go for the RMG and boy did that pay off. A few casts later my first estuary perch was landed after a bit of a fight. I'm still bloody stoked about it! 3 casts later and then I hooked what I thought was a small brown since it was jumping and going nuts but it turned out to be a small bream and that was my first bream on a hardbody! I then saw an area where there was heaps of storm water flowing out so I casted in and straight away got nailed but failed to hook up. I got plenty of hits here and managed one very small bream. What a day, I was very happy.

Went to Lorne to target Australian salmon but ended up with different varieties instead. Not complaining at all. Not too many people fishing on the pier.

Great day, sight casting at feeding bream worked well. I missed a bigger bream and a small trout. Saw a few perch flollow the lure right to the bank but they wouldn't take it. Saw some monster bream on the flats but they would dart off as soon as the lure hit the water. I saw a dragon fly land on the water and a few bream were very eager to get it but it flew off just in time, great to watch.

Very slow action. Some fishos caught some decent size salmon, trevally and whiting. It's not the salmon season yet. Keen to go back when it is a bit colder.
