Had a great time fishing, salmon all caught in the surf near the surf beach, rest of fish were caught in the estuary. It was my first time at Mallacoota and after catching a 63cm flatty (which was released) I'll be happy to go back.

Mallacoota... the best place ever to fish. Fishing all day, prawning all night! Spent all morning with the old man catching live poddy mullet then headed out to a secret location to catch the big bream! I'll add a pic of my dad and the bream we got. Mallacoota is a must see place to go fishing! Can't wait to get out there again these holidays. (See photo in Gallery section.)

Caught nothing on many diffent types of lures but this was probably more my fault than the fish or the lures. Consistently pulled in flatties and small bream on frozen prawns.

Comments:

Three of us headed to Mallacoota, a long 6 hour drive in the search for the large flathead. We managed to catch all our flathead on bluebait. We tried day after day to obtain poddy mullets, but we couldn't catch any. We still did well on dead bait. We kept all flathead and a dozen or so of the other fish. The flatties are there, but persistance is required. Flatties were all caught on dusk and in the narrows. I should have photos up soon.
