Comments: Leisurely weekend up at the Omeo Valley. Fished at the Hinnomunjie Bridge where we were getting bites every few minutes. One bite and they were gone. Had to be very quick. Weather was sunny but cold and very windy. Water was very clear and running okay. Didn't see too many others out but a good weekend was had.

Location: Mitta Mitta River Time: Late afternoon-night
Type of Water: River Type of Fishing: Wading
Target Fish: Trout
Bait\Lure\Fly: Fly, bait
Fish Caught: 1 x blackfish @ 30cm
Comments: River was low, lots of mayfly about that would normally bring them on, but no rises, no fish. Fished dries and nymphs in holes, riffles and flats and tailouts. Met another group of guys fishing with fly and they had no luck either. Father in-law caught a blackfish on worms, it was returned.

Location: Mitta Mitta River Time: Morning and evening
Type of Water: River Type of Fishing: Shore
Target Fish: Trout
Bait\Lure\Fly: Worms, crickets, hoppers, Rapala lures
Fish Caught: 4 x rainbow @ pan size
Comments: Though the river is pretty low and a lot of people were saying there wasn't much chance, we found that driving around a bit during the day to find some nice holes paid some reward. We found that the pondage below the Dartmouth was very good. I was with 2 other mates and between us we caught around 12 trout at all times of the day. They really start rising at 4 o'clock. Only caught 2 in the Mitta Mitta River. Annoyingly there seem to be a lot of smaller redfin that either have your bait before it hits the bottom, or get hooked and get your hopes up. Surprisingly caught a couple of rainbows on rapala lures in the Little Snowy. I say surprisingly because the water was crystal clear... So not much camouflage.

Location: Mitta Mitta River Time: 6.30pm-9pm
Type of Water: River Type of Fishing: Wading
Target Fish: Trout
Bait\Lure\Fly: Dry flies
Fish Caught: 1 x brown trout @ 400g
Comments: Fished the lower Mitta, flowing slowly and starting to get very warm (20 degrees when i fished it). Some fish were rising but I fear the fishing will die as the river warms.

10-12 June 2004, Paul Sacco
Location: Eskdale Time: Various
Type of Water: River Type of Fishing: Shore
Target Fish: Scrub and compost worms, Tassie Devils
Bait\Lure\Fly: Scrub and compost worms, Tassie Devils
Fish Caught: 2 x brown trout @ 30cm
3 x brown trout @ 35cm
4 x brown @ ?
Comments: I fished the rivers looking for deep ponds and had luck with some nice brown trout on worms and scrubbies. My son got 3 nice browns using Tassie lures. The best activity was after 11am. Also caught a couple in the evening. Overall it was a good break.
