Great peaceful day. 30 degrees, light wind. I totally agree with other reports about rubberneck city slickers ruining weekends. 2 Cod for the day, one was a monster, all returned. (See photo in Gallery section.) |

Went up to the Murrary with my school, it was for 2 nights, we hiked for 12km and canoed for 12km along the Murrary. I brought a rod up and fished off various banks and caught nothing. I used live shrimp caught locally and worms and bread, and mixed lures, and still nothing. I trolled form my canoe and still nothing. I found the current was too strong to fish from the banks, all we caught was a small carp on bread which was 2 metres form shore. Does anyone know how this area fishes??? |

Went up to Barmah over the weekend to get away from the world for a while and have a fish. I was going after some yellowbelly to try and get a feed of some nice fresh fish. Started off by catching a cod of approximately 30cm on the Friday night round midnight (released). Woke up the next morning and caught a few carp which met their maker "Mr Shovel" in a ditch out in the bush (only ever caught 1 other carp in this part of the river). Around lunchtime that day I caught a couple more cod between 30cm-45cm (released). Went out in the boat for a bit and caught a cod of 10cm (released). I ran out of bait so went back to camp. Sunday morning we got up and it was raining so packed up, had another fish and got a small redfin (released). I know they are introduced but I reckon they are a pretty cool fish so I threw him back. Also never caught a redfin in this part of the river before. It was a good weekend apart from the w@#$%^& who turned up Saturday morning. They camped right between us and another camp, brought up two speed boats and three jet skis and tore up the water all afternoon and cranked up their music so we could hardly talk round the campsite. I wish they would ban speed boats on this part of the river and save it for fish and fishing. Most fishos who go up to this part of the Murray River just want to have a quiet weekend. If you want to listen to music all night stay at home and go clubbing. (See photo in Gallery section.) |

Superb day's fishing, all fish returned bar the carp. Yellowbelly had been tagged, therefore recorded details and reported/returned. (See photo in Gallery section.) |
