Type of Water: Ocean Type of Fishing: Surf
Target Fish: Salmon
Bait\Lure\Fly: Bluebait, whitebait, squid

Good fishing, loads of bites. I say best fishing is on north west breeze. I used an Alvey reel to cast bait really far, about 60m-80m.

Fish Caught: 10 x salmon @ 15cm-18cm
1 x salmon @ 22cm
Comments: Also fished at Rye pier... the water was full of little shrimp I think called krill. I caught a banjo shark and Aids caught a 20cm flathead. No one was catching anything.

3 September 2005, Minyo
Location: Rye Ocean Beach Time: 11am-3pm
Type of Water: Ocean Type of Fishing: Surf
Target Fish: Anything that swims (excluding surfers)
Bait\Lure\Fly: Pippies, whitebait
Fish Caught: 3 x Aussie salmon @ 40cm+
Comments: Fish started biting before high tide. Just for fun, I used size 12 treble hooks for the pippies. Had big runs on them that straightened the size 12s. Not sure if I caught a surfer or a fish. LOL. Changed to bigger stronger trebles but it suddenly went quiet. Nice big runs on 50lb braid. Current was too strong though...

Type of Water: Ocean Type of Fishing: Surf
Target Fish: Salmon, trevally
Bait\Lure\Fly: Shrimp, squid
Fish Caught: 1 x Australian salmon @ 28cm
1 x catfish @ 30cm
Comments: First time to fish there. The weather was not too choopy and windy that morning at 7am though it rained all night. Stiil, 1 catfish and 1 salmon were caught for my dinner. It's a nice place for surf fishing.

Type of Water: Ocean Type of Fishing: Shore
Target Fish: Salmon, mullet, gummy, anything
Bait\Lure\Fly: Bluebait, squid, whitebait
Fish Caught: 1 x yelloweye mullet @ 20cm
Comments: Took my new Abu 6500CT Sports Mag out to see the surf for the first time. Fished the out-going tide. Mullet lived to fight another day. Think I should have taken the surf board instead. Great waves and weather!

Location: Rye Ocean Beach Time: 3pm
Type of Water: Ocean Type of Fishing: Surf
Target Fish: Salmon, gummy shark, mullet
Bait\Lure\Fly: Bluebait, whitebait, squid
Fish Caught: 10 x salmon @ undersized released
2 x black back salmon @ 1.5kg
1 x trevally @ 29cm
1 x parrotfish
Comments: The swirling white water was a haven for the smaller salmon. Wasn't till the late of the afternoon we started to see the big salmon move through. It was great to see the Fisheries and Port Phillip Rangers getting out and about in the area to stop the dishonest fisherman.

Fish Caught: 3 x salmon @ 30 - 40cm

Comments: Salmon weren't biting too much. Used the mullet on a rig and picked up the shark. Took ages to bring in. Well worth the battle.

Fish Caught: 5 x salmon @ 300g
1 x salmon @ 1.75kg
6 x mullet @ 500g
Comments: Sea was very rough and cold. Even said to myself, "Why are you here?" Returned all small salmon, kept the lovely 1.75kg salmon which was a surprise. Kept all 500g mullets. Saw 3 dead penguins washed ashore.
