Perserverance Pays Off
By Shurane Krishnan, February 2002
I was fishing Kerferd Road Pier recenty for pinkies and my first cast was to the right at the end of the pier.
Some goose cast his over mine and got my rig stuck in a snag. I was really dirty on that because that was my first cast. Anyway, I didn't say anything and tried to pull it out only to be busted off. I re-rigged and rebaited and cast away from him.
Half an hour later the guy got snagged in the same snag I had before. He pulled and pulled until he had a some fluoro yellow line around his bait. Suspisciously the same colour as my line.
I pulled on the fluoro line only to retrieve about 6 different lines with hooks, swivels, sinkers, etc. The big suprise was a snapper on the end. What makes it even more memorable was that this was the first legal pinky anyone had caught all day. At just over 27cm I was rapt, considering I had released about 20 undersize ones.
Just goes to show, if you keep on persevering you will get 'em.
